In appearance the highly polished Brass Wolf
Note Eliminator looks like some sort of spherical type jewellery
for your bass. In form - it consists of two half-spheres that
simply screw together by means of a fine internal thread. On
the inside of one of the halves is a hole that contains the female
thread and a small - slightly protruding - 3.5mm (ave) diameter
post positioned right in its centre. On the inside of the other
half is the protruding male thread, a central hole to accept
the post from the other half and a U-shaped channel that bisects
the half - so as to accommodate the string.
Simply hold the half with the string slot
in it behind the string - obviously at the desired position -
then screw the other half onto it from the front of the string.
Yes - should take less than10 seconds to assemble.
Finding the optimum position for it - isn’t included in that time though!
When the two halves are tightened together
- the small internal post - clamps down firmly onto the string.
Yes. A rubber free design - means that there
is a negligible dampening effect on the string.
In comparison to other makes of eliminator
on the market - the brass wolf note eliminator does seem a tad
on the heavy side - however we boffins at The Contrabass Shoppe
have tested it pretty extensively and have to say that it completely
annihilates most wolfs.
